Number Four, or John, has many different character traits in this novel. He is a content, shy person who tries not to stand out, mostly because hes hiding from aliens but that has also become part of his personality. I really like Johns personality, he has a way of controlling his anger when the time comes. There is a quote from Harry Potter that says "If you want to know what a mans like, take a look at the way he treats his inferiors, not his equals". This quote is relevant because John was targeted from day one at school, and threw each mean thing Mark has done to him, like putting cow fertilizer in his locker, throwing food at him and etc, John has of course been angry but stayed calm and mature. He knew it was the smart thing to do and it wasn't worth blowing his cover and moving to another state again. John is also very compassionate and caring for Henri, Sam, and especially Sara. Johns love and care shows for Henri when he goes out searching for information on the Mogadorians and doesn't come back in time for thanksgiving dinner with Sara's family. Him and Sam go to the extremes and drive without a license or any knowledge of driving to the next down, two hours away where Henri was. There has been plenty times in this book where he injures himself in order to help or save his friends, for example when they save Henri they hear the Mogadorians come down from atop the stairs. John grabs both Henri and Sam and jumps out the window onto a couple roofs away and hurts his legs badly. He has a lot of love for Sara and would do anything to protect her like he has said many times in the novel.
My question for you is: Do you think you could enjoy Johns company? Do you think you might like him as a friend?
I'm kinda like John, i'm shy and hate standing out, so I would give him a chance, get too know him. I feel that he's a really nice, caring guy. I would enjoy his company, even if he didn't talk I would enjoy his presence, so yea I guess I can say i'd like him as a friend.

I am not the quietest person or am shy but I do agree shy people have the best personalities and John seems very compassionate. I feel that John would be a good friend to have around because he seems trustworthy and that is how true friend should be. So yes, I would enjoy being John's friend !
ReplyDeleteI feel that John would be an great friend to have, the shy people are always the nicest people and it's an amazing quality he has that he does't want to be the center of attention all the time. I agree with Vanessa's comment when she said that she wasn't shy or quiet because i am not either, but I am also like John in a way because i would do anything for the people that i love and care for. Therefore I would most definitely like him as a friend.
